FAQ's

How long will it take to get my parts?

answer: Some parts are usually carried in stock.  If however, a part is out of stock that is usually considered a stock item, it may take from a couple of days to a couple weeks to get the part back into inventory, depending on the part. If the part is an item that has already been designed, but is considered a special order part, the item can take 2-6 weeks to be completed depending on the current shop workload.  If you are ordering a custom part, it can take 6-8 weeks and in rare cases, longer, to complete a part depending upon the complexity or the number of parts involved in the overall completed part(s).

What materials do you use to make the parts?

Most small detail parts are made with a moldable plastic. This makes the parts rugged and easy to finish. The parts can be used in the presence of Glow, Gasoline or Kerosene fuels and are completely impervious to damage by these fuels. The parts can be glued with CA's, epoxies, polyesters, goop or nearly any modeling glue available. Larger parts are usually made from epoxy glass, carbon fiber or Kevlar.

Do I get to keep the tooling (molds)?

Typically, no. Details 4 Scale owns the rights to all the tooling and you pay for only the parts. The price of the tooling materials and setup charges are included in the cost of the finished parts. There are exceptions to this rule, and each project with certain other requirements can be discussed prior to the commencement of any work.

What do I need to provide to get the parts made?

Typically, most parts can be made from a photograph of the real part, along with the appropriate scale of the aircraft being modeled. Drawings are helpful, but not absolutely necessary. The more information you provide, the more accurate your final parts will be. There are however; limitations to all scale parts, and not all details can be reproduced...Scale factors have much to do with the finished products. The larger the scale, the easier it will be to make the most accurate and completely detailed parts. All orders require full payment in advance and are non-refundable. Every effort will be made to make parts as accurate as the information provided and in a timely fashion. Each order is on a first come first serve basis. If you have a special need (time wise) a small rush fee may apply to your order. An estimate of the approximate completion time will be given to each order.

Are the parts completely finished, ready to install?

Final finish will be discussed for each order. Most parts are in the ready to finish form. If you have a special need for completely finished parts, it can be discussed when placing your order.

What if I only need one small part. Is there a minimum charge?

There is a minimum charge of $25.00 plus shipping and handling on small custom parts and all credit card orders.  There are no other hidden charges or minimum quantities. If one part is all you need, that's what you'll pay for...Period...

Sincerely,
